چکیده
Background. Cigarette smoking could induce endothelial dysfunction and the increase of circulating markers inflammation by activation monocytes. This can lead to increased intima media thickness (IMT) entire blood vessels result in acceleration atherosclerosis process. However, our knowledge, little is known about role cigarette this atherosclerotic inflammatory process. The aim study explore link between its effect on nitric oxide synthase (e-NOS) vascular cell adhesion molecule 1 (VCAM-1). Methods. An experimental with a post-test only controlled group design was used. We used 18 Wistar rats (Rattus norvegicus) randomly subdivided into two groups: K (-) were not exposed tobacco smoke, whereas (+) smoke equivalent more than 40 cigarettes for 28 days daily. After days, samples analyzed e-NOS, VCAM-1 aortic IMT. Results. Our results indicate that enhance expression rat cardiac cells, resulting decreased e-NOS level IMT. Linear regression model found eNOS negatively correlated wiith IMT (r2 = 0.584, ? -0.764, p < 0.001), did correlate 0.197, = 0.065). Conclusion. Low high observed after exposure which may IMT.

Bovine Aortic Endothelial Cell Nitric Oxide Synthase
The constitutive endothelial cell nitric oxide synthase (NOS) importantly regulates vascular homeostasis. To gain understanding of this enzyme, a pEF BOS cDNA library of 5 X 105 clones was prepared from bovine aortic endothelial cells (BAEC) and screened with a 2.8-kb cDNA BamHI fragment of rat brain NOS. Clone pBOS13 was found to express NO synthase activity when transfected into COS-7 cells. ...

Background: Radiation-induced molecular changes on the endothelial surface of brain arteriovenous malformations (AVM) may be used as markers for specific vascular targeting agents. In this study, we examined the level of expression of platelet endothelial cell adhesion molecule-1 (PECAM-1) on brain endothelial cell surface after radiation treatment, with the aim of targeting the radiation-induc...
متن کاملEffect of cigarette smoke extract on nitric oxide synthase in pulmonary artery endothelial cells.
Cigarette smoking is associated with impaired endothelium-dependent vasodilation and reduced nitric oxide (NO) in the exhaled air of smokers. To explore the mechanism for the impairment of NO-mediated vasodilation, we studied the effect of cigarette smoke extract (CSE) on NO synthase (eNOS) activity and content in pulmonary artery endothelial cells (PAEC). Incubation of PAEC with CSE resulted i...
متن کاملAdhesion Development and the Expression of Endothelial Nitric Oxide Synthase
OBJECTIVE This study was conducted to determine whether nitric oxide (NO), a potent vasodilator and inhibitor of thrombus formation, is involved in the formation and maintenance of adhesions. METHODS Skin, subcutaneous tissues, peritoneum and adhesions were collected from surgical patients and total RNA was isolated. Quantitative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (QRT-PCR) was p...
متن کاملMetabolism-based inactivation of neuronal nitric-oxide synthase by components of cigarette and cigarette smoke.
It has been shown that administration of cigarette smoke to rats leads to loss of neuronal nitric-oxide synthase (nNOS) activity and nNOS protein in penile tissue. The exact mechanism for this loss of activity and protein is not known. In the current study, we investigated whether extracts prepared from cigarette smoke or from the cigarette itself could directly inhibit nNOS activity. We discov...
